Who We Are
Who We Are
The World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY) is an international youth organization, non-governmental and non-profit. It was founded in 1972 in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to be an independent Islamic platform that supports Islamic institutions and serves needy communities around the world. From its headquarters in Riyadh, its activities have expanded to more than 56 countries through active branches and offices cooperating with more than 500 youth and student organizations across five continents.
In Senegal, WAMY was accredited as a non-governmental organization under Decree No. 0161919 / MFEF / SDC on 15 November 1995, and a headquarters agreement was signed with the Government of Senegal on 25 May 2010, granting it full legal status and broad authority to carry out its humanitarian and development mission. The regional office in Senegal covers the entire sub-region including Senegal, The Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, and Cape Verde, in addition to all 14 regions of Senegal at the national level.
Thanks to these efforts, WAMY in Senegal continues its leadership in charitable and relief work, contributing to community service and strengthening the values of solidarity and cooperation. Its extensive activities have earned it recognition from the United Nations as one of the leading organizations in education, youth development, and community support.
